The E-logs mandate is a federal law requiring commercial vehicles to track their Hours of Service (HOS) and provide Records of Duty Status (RODS) to law enforcement officers or DOT officials upon request. But what are the requirements for these ELD audits?Easily Audit E-Logs
The purpose of the ELD mandate is to make HOS information electronically available, with the goal of improving public safety. While paper logs have been the norm for a long time, this law replaces them with ELDs that collect data on operation time automatically.
Some drivers have been using Automatic On-Board Recording Devices (AOBRDs), which are compliant until December 2019 if they were installed prior to December 18, 2017. AOBRDs record a driver’s location (manually or automatically) each time there is a change of duty status — like clocking in and out or taking a break.
With ES Track, fleet managers can quickly and easily gather information on operators and equipment from any internet-connected browser. To demonstrate ELD compliance for law enforcement or DOT officials, drivers can pull up the information on their phone or tablet, or email a copy of a report with a few clicks of the mouse.
